    Description

A great, full-bodied and balanced red wine from Pauillac

    The estate

Second Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac, the magnificent Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande shines in the Pauillac appellation.

It was in 1925 that the Miailhe family, represented by Édouard and Louis Miailhe, acquired this estate on the left bank of Bordeaux. An emblematic figure of Gironde viticulture, May-Eliane de Lencquesaing, daughter of Edouard Miailhe, managed the Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande from 1978 to 2007, when the estate was acquired by the Rouzaud family, owners of the Champagne House Louis Roederer.

    The vineyard

Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande spans 92 hectares, 72 of which are in production. The soils, composed of gravelly ridges on a sandy-clay subsoil, benefit the vines, which are on average 30 years old. This large Pauillac vineyard is managed using sustainable viticulture practices, with biodynamic practices on 32 hectares.

    Blend

68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.

    Tasting

    Color
Extremely deep purple color with violet and lilac reflections.

    Nose
The nose is complex and ripe, revealing notes of black fruit and dark chocolate. Aeration reveals a slight touch of dried fruit accompanied by notes of cedar and tobacco.

    Palate
On the palate, this 2015 vintage has a lot of fat, with a nice intense and ripe acidity as well as flavors of blueberries and blackcurrants.
