Description

A perfectly harmonious Saint-Julien red wine

Château Talbot is a 4ème Cru Classé en 1855 produced in the Saint-Julien appellation. Its name comes from the Constable Talbot, a well-known English warrior who lost the Battle of Castillon in 1453. The vineyard of 102 hectares is an average of 56 years old and is planted in soils of typical Médoc gravel. The wine is aged in barrels, half of which are new. The 2008 vintage is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot.

At tasting, the Château Talbot 2008 expresses a solar side, the grapes having enjoyed plenty of very good sunshine. It reveals on the nose aromas of plums, almond blossoms and kernel. Not at all austere, it is perfectly harmonious, revealing itself to be at once round and soft. The tannins are extremely tasty and incredibly long, giving the wine a silky; even almost sweet, finish.
