The freshness and precision of a New Zealand white wine
The estate
Nestled on the foothills of the Wairau Valley in Marlborough, Clos Henri is a renowned New Zealand estate run by a Sancerre icon: the Bourgeois family, winegrowers for 10 generations. Aspiring to reveal the finest terroirs of Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, Rémi and Jean-Marie Bourgeois set out to explore the world in search of a rare gem. After an extensive search, the family chose New Zealand, founding Clos Henri in 2000. The estate now spans 110 hectares of vineyards, with 42 hectares certified organic.
The vineyard
Rich in glacial soils, the estate boasts one of the most varied terroirs in the Marlborough valley. Shaped by three distinct geological periods, the soils comprise layers of windblown clays and rounded pebbles.
Winemaking and aging
Clos Henri Sauvignon Blanc undergoes gentle pressing followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged on fine lees for three months.
Grape variety
Sauvignon Blanc.
