Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Pouilly-Fuissé Village 2025 from Domaine de la Garenne
Tasting
Colour
This wine reveals a golden hue, enlivened by green highlights characteristic of Mâconnais Chardonnays.
Nose
The nose is intense, unveiling notes of white flowers and citrus, accompanied by ripe yellow fruit and more subtle touches of honey and fresh butter.
Palate
The palate is full and structured, carried by a slight creamy sensation inherited from barrel ageing, while retaining a taut acidic backbone and a saline minerality that extend the tasting into a long, persistent finish.
Food and Wine Pairings
This wine pairs beautifully with fine fish, grilled or served in a sauce, shellfish, poultry in a creamy sauce, as well as goat's cheeses or more delicately textured cheeses, confirming its gastronomic calling.
Serving and Cellaring
This Pouilly-Fuissé Village 2025 is ideally served between 11 and 13°C, in order to fully reveal its balance between aromatic richness and mineral freshness.
A Pouilly-Fuissé Village from the Mâconnais, Crafted by Domaine de la Garenne
The Estate
Domaine de la Garenne was founded in 1987 in Azé, in the Haut-Mâconnais, in Burgundy. Entirely devoted to Chardonnay, it is now run by the Beaumont and Devillard families, who have been partners since 2008. The vineyard, spread across Mâcon-Azé, Mâcon-Bussières, Mâcon Solutré-Pouilly and Pouilly-Fuissé, covers an area of approximately 6 to 8 hectares depending on the source. Recognised as an ambassador of the Mâconnais, the estate relies on the expertise of oenologist Robert Vernizeau and on a distribution network focused on fine dining.
The Vineyard
This Pouilly-Fuissé comes from two plots located in the heart of the appellation: La Ruère, in Solutré, just below the rock of the same name, facing south-west on a steep slope, and Le Moule, in Pouilly, on a gentler south-east-facing hillside, in an area identified among the Premiers Crus. The clay-limestone soils of these hillsides, well drained and rich in active limestone, give the Chardonnay generous ripeness while preserving freshness and minerality.
Vinification and Ageing
For the production of this Pouilly-Fuissé Village 2025, the grapes are hand-harvested and hand-sorted before being pressed in a pneumatic press, then cold settled for around twenty hours. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place entirely in Burgundy barrels, followed by ageing on the lees for approximately 9 to 12 months, with a proportion of new oak carefully managed according to the vintage.
Grape Variety
This wine is made from 100% Chardonnay, the only grape variety grown across the estate's entire vineyard.
