A Nuits-Saint-Georges Village from Domaine des Perdrix, Balancing Structure and Finesse
The estate
Domaine des Perdrix, taken over in 1996 by the Devillard family and now part of Domaines Devillard, spans around fifteen hectares of prestigious terroirs in the Côte de Nuits, in Burgundy, including almost the entirety (99%) of the Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru climat « Aux Perdrix ». Now run by Amaury Devillard, the estate relies on exacting viticulture and meticulous winemaking to produce rich, powerful Pinot Noirs, recognised among the fine references of the appellation.
The vineyard
This Nuits-Saint-Georges Village comes from two climats, « Au Bas de Combe » and « Aux Barrières », located at the northern edge of the appellation, bordering Vosne-Romanée. These plots, covering 1.16 hectares, are planted with old vines dating from 1937 and 1944, on clay-limestone soils where clay predominates, bringing both density and freshness to the grapes.
Winemaking and ageing
The grapes for the Nuits-Saint-Georges Village 2025 are hand-harvested, then sorted on a table before being transferred to vat. Winemaking relies on precise temperature control and pneumatic punching down, allowing for accurate extraction without harshness. The press juice and free-run juice are aged separately for around 15 months, 30% of it in new oak barrels, before blending.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
