Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Chassagne-Montrachet Village "Vieilles Vignes" 2025 from Jean-Charles Fagot
Tasting
Colour
This wine displays a brilliant, luminous and vivid red colour, typical of Pinot Noir vinified with care to preserve its freshness.
Nose
The nose generally unfolds with red and black fruit, accompanied by woody and spicy nuances from ageing in large oak casks.
Palate
On the palate, this Pinot Noir from old vines reveals a silky structure, supported by fine tannins and a lovely freshness, favouring elegance over power, in the image of the great Pinot Noirs of the Côte de Beaune.
Food and Wine Pairing
This red Chassagne-Montrachet is an ideal match for roast poultry or poultry in sauce, white meats cooked with mushrooms, and traditional Burgundian dishes such as coq au vin or jambon persillé. It also pairs well with full-flavoured soft cheeses such as Époisses, Brie de Meaux or Chaource.
Serving and Cellaring
The Chassagne-Montrachet Village "Vieilles Vignes" 2025 is best enjoyed at a temperature between 15 and 17 °C, after decanting if drunk young.
A Rare Pinot Noir in the Heart of the Chassagne-Montrachet Appellation
The Estate
The Jean-Charles Fagot estate is located in Corpeau, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, between Chagny and Puligny-Montrachet. Jean-Charles Fagot, who runs the estate, has been making wine under his own name since 1989. He is also a restaurateur at the Auberge du Vieux Vigneron in Corpeau, and complements his winegrowing activity with a négoce-élevage business. The estate practises lutte raisonnée, with hand-harvested grapes, in an artisanal, family-run approach faithful to Burgundian identity.
The Vineyard
Sourced from old vines in the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation, this cuvée benefits from the ripeness and depth provided by aged vines, grown in the renowned terroir of this Côte de Beaune village, which is better known for its white wines than its reds.
Winemaking and Ageing
The Chassagne-Montrachet Village "Vieilles Vignes" 2025 is vinified and aged using traditional methods, true to the artisanal identity of the Jean-Charles Fagot estate.
Grape Variety
This wine is made from Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape variety of Burgundy's red wines.
