    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Puligny-Montrachet Village 2024 by Jean-Charles Fagot

    Tasting

    Appearance

The wine reveals a brilliant pale yellow hue, enhanced by subtle luminous highlights.

    Nose

The nose opens with an expressive bouquet of white flowers and orchard fruits such as apple and pear. Vibrant citrus notes intertwine with pronounced minerality, evoking flint and chalk.

    Palate

From the first sip, the palate proves round and generous, carried by a silky texture. The mid-palate, dominated by fruit and lovely freshness, extends into a long, elegant and delicately saline finish.

    Food and wine pairings

This white wine pairs beautifully with grilled fish or fish served in a creamy sauce, as well as with shellfish such as lobster or langoustine. It also masterfully accompanies characterful regional cheeses such as Époisses, blue-veined cheeses, or refined dishes like foie gras.

    Serving and cellaring

With fine ageing potential, this Puligny-Montrachet Village 2024 can be enjoyed now or kept in the cellar to be drunk until around 2031.

The authentic expression of a great Puligny-Montrachet terroir

    The estate

Based in Corpeau in Burgundy, the Fagot family has been cultivating vines since 1860. It was in 1989 that Jean-Charles Fagot truly founded the current commercial estate, before taking over the family holding in the 1990s. Today, at the helm of a vineyard of 3 to 4 hectares, he crafts authentic wines in the purest respect of tradition. Also a passionate restaurateur, he is gradually passing on his expertise to his daughter Clémence. The estate stands out for its pragmatic environmental approach and its determination to sublimate each terroir.

    The vineyard

The plots dedicated to the production of this Puligny-Montrachet benefit from ideal exposure and altitude. Resting on predominantly limestone soils, the vines are cultivated according to the principles of sustainable viticulture. The estate favours traditional and environmentally friendly methods, including partial ploughing of the soils with a draft horse and entirely manual harvests to select the finest berries.

    The vintage

The 2024 vintage offered favourable climatic conditions, allowing for wonderfully fresh berries. In order to preserve the natural acidity and the mineral profile so characteristic of this year, early harvests were favoured, giving rise to digestible, floral and perfectly balanced juices.

    Winemaking and ageing

The estate's philosophy is based on natural and minimally interventionist winemaking. The fermentations of this Puligny-Montrachet Village 2024 are triggered by indigenous yeasts. The wine then benefits from 12 to 14 months of ageing in large wooden foudres. This choice of vessel allows for gentle oxygenation while preserving the brightness of the fruit and the identity of the terroir, without marking the wine with excessive woody aromas.

    Grape variety

    100% Chardonnay.
