    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Bourgogne Aligoté 2022 Joseph Drouhin

    Tasting

    Appearance

This Bourgogne Aligoté reveals a pale yellow hue with green highlights, a sign of the wine's youth and of the precision applied during its vinification in tank.

    Nose

The nose of this Bourgogne Aligoté expresses aromas of fresh grapes with a slight tartness, offering a direct, barely evolved aromatic profile that is typical of the grape variety.

    Palate

On the palate, this Bourgogne Aligoté 2022 charms with its freshness and fine balance between softness and acidity, enhanced by a pleasant gunflint note. The ripeness of the vintage brings a tender, fleshy texture, supported by a solid structure and a finish of beautiful persistence.

    Food and Wine Pairings

This Bourgogne Aligoté is a delight as an aperitif, where its vivacity awakens the palate. It also pairs very well with seafood, notably shellfish and crustaceans such as oysters or seafood platters, as well as grilled or poached fish. Fresh or semi-dry goat's cheeses also find a lovely echo in this wine, as do poultry dishes lightly flavoured with lemon or fine herbs.

    Serving and Cellaring

The Bourgogne Aligoté 2022 is ideally served between 12 and 13°C, a temperature that preserves its tension and the precision of its aromas.

A Bourgogne Aligoté Revealing the Freshness and Ripeness of the 2022 Vintage

    The Estate

Founded in 1880 in Beaune by Joseph Drouhin, Maison Joseph Drouhin has grown over five generations to become one of the great houses of Burgundy, both a négociant and the owner of a vineyard of approximately 100 hectares. Now led by the founder's descendants, Philippe, Véronique, Laurent and Frédéric Drouhin, the house stands out for its early commitment to organic and biodynamic farming, as well as its constant desire to reveal the true expression of terroir and vintage in each of its wines.

    The Vineyard

This Bourgogne Aligoté comes from grapes grown mainly in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune, the Hautes Côtes de Nuits and the Côte Chalonnaise, on clay-limestone soils. These high-altitude terroirs offer conditions conducive to the freshness and vivacity sought for this ancient Burgundian grape variety.

    The Vintage

The 2022 vintage stood out in Burgundy for its particularly accomplished ripeness, favouring the production of highly aromatic white wines. These climatic conditions yielded ripe grapes, resulting in a generous texture while retaining the region's characteristic freshness.

    Vinification and Ageing

The Bourgogne Aligoté 2022 is pneumatically pressed to preserve the integrity of the fruit. After settling by gravity, the wine is aged in tank for six to ten months, without any time in barrel, in order to retain all the aromatic purity and mineral tension that are characteristic of Aligoté.

    Grape Variety

This Bourgogne Aligoté 2022 is made from the Aligoté grape, an ancient and emblematic variety of Burgundy.
