La Chablisienne : Chablis Grand cru "Château Grenouilles" 2015

The 2015 Chablis Grand Cru Chateau Grenouilles comes courtesy of 40-year-old vines and spent 20 months on the fine lees in stainless steel and oak barrels. It has a clean and fresh bouquet, with scents of grilled walnut and orange rind on the nose, the minerals tucked in just behind. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, sophisticated and precise as it fans out toward the finish. This is a very finely made Chateau Grenouilles from La Chablisienne and is equal to the 2014 when it was tasted last year.

Patience will be needed to see this Grenouilles blossom and reveal its assets: its breadth of flavors, its almost tannic structure, and the noble bitterness on the finish all promise a very long future, during which it will gradually shed its austerity.
