The estate

Established in 1890 in the station district of Haro, La Rioja Alta remains a family-owned estate now led by Guillermo de Aranzabal Bittner. Renowned for its iconic Gran Reserva 890 and 904 cuvées, this traditional House with international influence ranks among the most admired wineries in the world.

The vineyard

The grapes for this Reserva come from the municipalities of Rodezno and Labastida, benefiting from well-ventilated vineyards and an exceptional terroir that contribute to the unique expression of this Rioja wine.

The vintage

The year 2004 stood out for ideal conditions with perfect fruit set and abundant vegetation on healthy vines. Cooler-than-usual temperatures, along with significant day-night temperature swings, favored slow, even ripening with moderate yields.

Winemaking and aging

After clarification, Viña Arana Reserva 2004 was transferred in March 2005 to three-year-old American oak barrels. Aging continued for 36 months in American oak with six manual rackings, before bottling in November 2008.

Grape varieties

The blend is composed of 95% Tempranillo and 5% Mazuelo.
