An elegant and expressive Premier Cru from Burgundy

    The estate

Officially founded in 1797 by Jean Latour, Louis Latour remains an independent family-owned estate, now run by the eleventh generation. Based in Beaune in Burgundy, it boasts an exceptional 48-hectare vineyard holding, including 28 hectares of Grands Crus, making it the largest owner of Grands Crus in the Côte-d'Or. This family continuity for nearly three centuries exemplifies a remarkable balance between tradition and innovation.

    The vineyard

The "Les Mitans" climat is located in Volnay, south of Beaune and neighboring Pommard. This plot lies midway between the Beaune–Chalon-sur-Saône departmental road and the village of Volnay, hence its name meaning “middle.” The vines, averaging 25 years of age, are rooted in the clay-limestone subsoil typical of the Volnay Premier Cru appellation.

    Winemaking and ageing

Vinification of the Volnay Premier Cru "Les Mitans" 2019 follows a traditional method in open vats, accompanied by full malolactic fermentation. Ageing takes place for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels, 35% of which are new, sourced from the Louis Latour cooperage with a medium toast.

    Grape variety

    Pinot Noir (100%).
