    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru "Les Vide-Bourse" 2024 Marc Colin et Fils

    Tasting

    Colour
The colour reveals a sparkling gold hue, enhanced by delicate green highlights.

    Nose
The nose opens with citrus aromas such as lemon and grapefruit, mingled with stone fruit notes like white peach and pear. A pronounced minerality, reminiscent of flint, harmonises with subtle vanilla and oaky touches.

    Palate
Rich and intense, the palate seduces with its concentration and breadth. It offers a pronounced minerality, supported by a linear acidity that provides a fine structure, before stretching towards a long and flavourful finish.

    Food and wine pairing

This white wine pairs wonderfully with seafood such as oysters, lobster or grilled langoustines. It will also enhance fish or poultry in creamy sauces, as well as characterful cheeses such as Époisses or Roquefort.

    Service and storage

For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve this Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru "Les Vide-Bourse" 2024 at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. Built for ageing, this wine can be kept in the cellar until at least 2031 to reveal its full complexity.

The mineral expression and depth of a great white wine from Burgundy

    The estate

Founded in 1970 by Marc and Michèle Colin, the Marc Colin et Fils estate is a key reference in Burgundy. Initially made up of a few family plots, the vineyard now spans around 20 hectares across 26 appellations. The estate is currently run by the founder's children: Damien Colin, who oversees vinification and vineyard work, and Caroline Colin, in charge of commercial management. The estate is particularly renowned for its sustainable approach and its ability to express the purity of its terroirs.

    The vineyard

Classified as Premier Cru since 1974, the "Les Vide-Bourse" climat is located within the prestigious Chassagne-Montrachet appellation, in the immediate vicinity of the Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru. The vines, averaging around 30 years of age, benefit from an ideal south-east exposure for grape ripening. They thrive on very well-drained clay-limestone soils, rich in small pebbles. The estate favours organic and sustainable farming, with regular soil work to preserve biodiversity and the health of the vineyard.

    The vintage

The year 2024 proved particularly challenging in terms of weather. The growing cycle was marked by cool conditions and high humidity, with rainfall well above historical averages and limited sunshine. Localised episodes of frost and hail, combined with strong disease pressure, put the vineyard to the test. Despite low yields, the harvest, carried out late at the end of September, made it possible to gather berries of great concentration.

    Winemaking and ageing

After a rigorous manual harvest, fermentation of this Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru "Les Vide-Bourse" 2024 begins naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts. The wine is vinified in French oak barrels, 10 to 25% of which are new. Ageing continues on fine lees without any stirring, in order to preserve natural tension and freshness. Malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously, followed by minimal fining and filtration before bottling.

    Grape variety

    100% Chardonnay.
