    The property

    Oremus is one of those estates that, by merging in 1993 with the illustrious Spanish estate Vega Sicilia, embraced and magnified its philosophy. Thus, in this prestigious Hungarian vineyard, the continuous search for excellence, harmony with nature, and rigor are the order of the day. The prestige of the vineyard dates back to the 1630s, when Maté Szepsi Lacko made the first "Tokaj draining wine" from grapes grown in the Oremus vineyard. He then offered it to the wife of the Prince of Transylvania, Princess Susana Lorántffy, to thank her for her delicate attentions to the inhabitants of Tokaj. A century later, Oremus was already one of the most renowned estates in the world.

    The wine

    Meaning "teardrop-shaped wine", Aszú wines are produced exclusively in great vintages whose conditions are ideal for the development of Botrytis. Tokaji Aszú 3 Puttonyos from Oremus is made from vines averaging 20 years old, resting at 200 meters altitude on clay soil.

    The vineyard

    The Oremus estate oversees a vineyard of 115 hectares spread over steep hills whose various exposures ensure optimal maturity of the local grape varieties (furmint, harslevelü, zéta or sárgamuskotály).

    Vinification and aging

    The Tokaji Aszú 3 Puttonyos 2019 is made according to the traditional Hungarian method. After a rigorous selection of berries affected by noble rot, the wine is aged for 2 years in new Hungarian oak barrels, then rests for at least an additional 12 months in bottle before marketing.

    Blend

    Tokaji Aszú 3 Puttonyos from Oremus is the result of a blend of furmint, zéta and sárgamuskotály.
