In the early 90s that Alain Chabanon from the Cévennes region of France set up in the commune of Jonquières, near Montpeyroux, in the Languedoc. Nothing predestined this teacher’s son to turn to the vine. After studying agronomy in Bordeaux, Alain Chabanon specialised in oenology. He gained experience with renowned winemakers in different terroirs, such as Alain Brumont in Madiran, Corsica and the Gard. The acquisition of the Montpeyroux vineyard after placing an advertisement marks a new stage in his life.

Covering 17 hectares and made up of old vines, Alain Chabanon's vineyard is a veritable mosaic of terroirs. The vineyard is divided into different plots in 5 villages: Montpeyroux, Saint-Saturnin, Jonquières, Lagamas and Saint-André-de-Sangonis. The location of the vineyard in the foothills of the Larzac limestone plateau, with its arid, stony soils, makes it an exceptional terroir. In this region, the seasons alternate with harsh winters and hot summers, while the Tramontane blows strongly, helping to protect the vineyards from disease.

With a philosophy of respect for the vines and the environment, Alain Chabanon started growing his vines organically very early on. He received certification in 2002, before turning to biodynamic viticulture and obtaining certification in 2011.

Alain Chabanon's exacting standards have produced wines in the Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc and IGP Pays d'Oc appellations that are highly precise and perfectly balanced. Alain Chabanon's wines have been carefully aged and can be laid down for many years.

Acknowledged as one of the Languedoc's greatest winemakers, Alain Chabanon is the creator of rare wines that can be found on the finest Michelin-starred tables.
