Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Chassagne-Montrachet Village 2024 by Bruno Colin

Tasting

Appearance
Displaying a pure and brilliant yellow hue, this wine reveals beautiful clarity.

Nose
Expressive and generous, the nose exudes an intensely fruity aromatic profile. It unveils notes of yellow citrus that intertwine harmoniously with stone fruit aromas such as peach, apricot and mirabelle plum.

Palate
Round and fleshy, the palate charms with its richness and indulgent texture. A lively, refined acidity balances this generosity, extending into a persistent finish marked by a beautiful mineral and saline tension.

Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs wonderfully with delicate seafood, shellfish or white fish such as turbot and sole. It will also accompany fine roasted poultry served with cream and mushrooms, as well as cooked pressed cheeses such as an aged Comté.

Serving and cellaring
Approachable in its youth thanks to its vibrant fruit, this Chassagne-Montrachet Village 2024 also has beautiful ageing potential and can rest in the cellar until around 2034.

The estate
Born into a long line of winegrowers from the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, the founder of the estate, Bruno Colin, honed his skills within the family estate from 1993 onwards. In 2003, following the division of his father's estate, he founded his own eponymous domaine. Still at the helm of the property today, Bruno Colin cultivates an 8.75-hectare vineyard spread across prestigious appellations. He stands out for his commitment to conveying with precision and emotion the true character of each terroir.

The vineyard
The vines that give birth to this Chassagne-Montrachet thrive at the heart of Burgundy's famous "golden triangle". Rooted in clay-limestone soils, sometimes marly, the vineyard benefits from an excellent exposure. The estate favours an environmentally respectful approach, with mechanical soil work, ploughing and a shift towards organic farming to preserve the vitality of the terroirs.

The vintage
The 2024 season was marked by capricious weather, combining heavy rainfall, a lack of sunshine and episodes of frost or hail. However, the area benefited from slightly milder conditions and a better flowering. A sunny month of September ultimately allowed optimal ripeness to be reached. Despite very low yields, the health of the berries proved exceptional thanks to rigorous sorting.

Winemaking and ageing
After manual harvesting and meticulous sorting in the vineyard, the vinification of this Chassagne-Montrachet Village 2024 unfolds naturally, with fermentation in temperature-controlled vats. The wine is then aged for 12 months in 350-litre oak barrels, 15 to 20% of which are new. It finally rests for 4 to 6 months in vat to refine its harmony before bottling.

Grape variety
This wine is made from 100% Chardonnay.
