The NV Brut Blanc de Noirs Coeur des Bar, a pure Pinot Noir, opens with lovely reductive smokiness and ripe dark cherry. The brisk palate features frothy mousse and broadens to a yeasty fullness with mellow red apple flesh, showcasing its Pinot nature while delivering fine freshness on the finish. An open bouquet, with a maturity profile that is correct without being exceptional. The wine lacks reserve wine. It’s a rather simple register that lacks character. The palate confirms this trend: it’s enveloping but I find it limited, and the dosage stands out on the finish.

In recognition that Pinot Noir is the principal variety in the Côte des Bar, this Champagne is rich with a fine texture. It has a mineral edge along with a more open ripeness and a poise between soft and dry. Drink now.
