Château Chasse-Spleen 2024

Warm-fruited nose with cooked berries, spices, and stony undertones; fruity attack, then somewhat sticky tannins, the acidity keeps it fresh, unfortunately drying on the finish.

Perfumed notes. Softly juicy with clean red berry fruit and a chalky aspect to the tannins. Feels well presented, not super vibrant or lively, but there’s purity and focus here with a sense of character. Ripe red fruit, liquorice, salty stones and a powdery texture on the finish. Not a bad effort at all. Tasted twice.

60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot. Cask sample. Berry fruit with a chalky edge. A touch of sweetness in the background. Layered fruit with a certain tension but fresh and harmonious. Supple, refined tannins. (JL)

Licorice, cherries, and bitter herbs form the character here. Medium-bodied, crisp, and chewy, the bright red fruits in the finish are accompanied by olives and dusty chalk. Drink from 2027-2038. 88-90 pts
