Characteristics and tasting tips for Château Cos d’Estournel 10th Anniversary Limited Edition 2015
Tasting
This wine opens with delicate spicy notes and combines aromatic complexity, richness and elegance.
A generous Saint-Estèphe red wine of great richness and beautiful depth
The estate
North of the Médoc, on the hill of Saint-Estèphe, Château Cos d’Estournel stands majestically. Like a real Maharaja's palace, the château and its pagodas surprise and captivate the eye. In 1791, Louis-Gaspard d’Estournel inherited several hectares of vineyards and had the estate built. An adventurer who traveled the world, his taste for the exotic and the Orient gave Château Cos d’Estournel its architecture that is so unique in the Médoc. Owned by Michel Reybier since 2000, Château Cos d’Estournel continues to shine in the Saint-Estèphe appellation and joins the ranks of the world's greatest wines thanks to its distinctive style, where the pursuit of beauty and excellence is permanent.
The vineyard
A reference among the great Saint-Estèphe wines, Château Cos d’Estournel enjoys an exceptional location. The vineyard is located on the edge of a plateau, in the immediate vicinity of the Gironde estuary. It thus benefits from a maritime climate while being protected from bad weather. The vines are planted on two slopes and on a central plateau, benefiting from ideal exposure and good ventilation.
The wine
Cos d’Estournel 2015 comes from only 39% of the total production generated by the estate this year. In other words: a strict selection of batches from the greatest terroirs, with vines of a high average age: 55 years.
The case
Château Cos d’Estournel presents a case of 3 bottles of this 2015 vintage, made exclusively from Paulownia, a wood known for combining lightness and resistance.
After 8 years of bottle aging at the château, each of these bottles is released onto the market at an ideal time for tasting.
Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (75%)
Merlot (23.5%)
Cabernet Franc (1.5%)
