Château Couhins 2025

A very successful wine whose aromas evoke ripe black fruit with a touch of reduction. The palate offers an appealing combination of smoothness, ripeness, and freshness, drawn from a healthy yield of around 37 hl/ha. Notably juicier than many other Pessac–Léognan reds in its price range, it delivers a supple, flowing texture shaped by gentle extraction and already well-integrated tannins. Despite its concentration, the wine retains the hallmark freshness of the 2025 vintage: an excellent achievement in terms of generosity, linear focus, and drinkability.

Velvety autumnal fruits, a ton of damson and black cherry, lovely opening, very much succeeds on the aromatics but a little less smooth on the finish. 3.63 pH. Harvest September 9 to October 1. 15% new oak. Certified organic since 2022 vintage. Derenoncourt consultants.

The bouquet of Couhins 2025 reveals notes of blackcurrant, eucalyptus and pepper, highlighting the presence of Cabernet Sauvignon. Dense on the attack, the wine has compact tannins that provide energy, freshness and persistence, together with an underlying acidic structure. A characterful wine that needs time to fully express itself. Ageing will smooth out the edges, and the wine will already be enjoyable in its youth while offering good ageing potential.

Clearly shaped by the aging process, smoky; with air, cherries and herbal notes emerge, along with some yeasty nuances. On the palate it is fruity and fresh; pronounced yet silky tannins wrap around the crisp fruit. Very good balance, long, aromatic finish. Very good potential.
