Tasting
Appearance
The wine reveals a beautiful ruby red hue, enhanced by delicate violet reflections.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet proves rich and complex, exuding scents of black and red fruits such as blackberry, blueberry, raspberry and redcurrant. The whole is refreshed by citrus notes, hints of blackcurrant bud and a touch of peppermint.
Palate
From the very first sip, which is lively, straight and lingering, this wine expresses a restrained power. The mid-palate offers an elegant substance endowed with a silky texture. The finish, marked by great freshness and lovely length, concludes with remarkable precision accompanied by a subtle saline note.
Food and wine pairing
This great wine pairs wonderfully with flavoursome meats such as grilled lamb or braised red meats. It will also enhance a roast pigeon served with pears, or a platter of aged hard cheeses.
Serving and ageing
Endowed with a solid structure, Château d'Armailhac 2025 is a wine built for ageing. It can be kept in the cellar and enjoyed until around 2050.
The elegance and power of a great Pauillac wine signed Château d'Armailhac
The estate
Located in the famous region of Bordeaux, the estate saw its first vines planted in 1750 by the Armailhacq family. Classified as a Fifth Growth in 1855, it was acquired in 1933 by Baron Philippe de Rothschild, before reclaiming its historic name of Château d'Armailhac in 1989. Today, this prestigious property is led by Camille Sereys de Rothschild, Philippe Sereys de Rothschild and Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild. Under the technical management of Lucie Lauilhe, the estate continues to shine through its excellence and respect for the terroir.
The vineyard
Stretching over 80 hectares in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, this exceptional terroir lies on four distinct gravel mounds. The soils consist of light, deep gravel resting on a clay-sandy and limestone base, offering optimal drainage. The vines, with an average age of 40 years, benefit from an ideal southern exposure and tailor-made, environmentally friendly viticulture, allowing each grape variety to fully express its potential.
The vintage
The year 2025 began with a mild and dry winter, encouraging an early budburst on 2 April. Spring proved contrasted, marked by a rainy April, followed by an even flowering between 14 and 27 May. The hot and arid summer accelerated ripening during veraison (from 10 July to 4 August), concentrating the berries. Finally, a cooler and wetter late August perfected the balance of the grapes. The early harvest took place from 9 to 20 September under excellent sanitary conditions, although volumes were affected by the lack of water.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes benefit from modern facilities thanks to an eco-responsible vat room completed in 2021. The crafting of Château d'Armailhac 2025 continues with meticulous ageing over 18 months, carried out with 50% new barrels, in order to refine the structure and subtly integrate the woody aromas. Alcohol content: 13% vol.
Grape varieties
This Château d'Armailhac 2025 comes from a blend made up of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
