The elegance and finesse of a great Barsac wine signed Château Doisy-Daëne
The estate
Acquired in 1924 by Georges Dubourdieu, Château Doisy-Daëne is an iconic estate in the Bordeaux region. Located in Barsac, this historic property was awarded the rank of Second Cru Classé in 1855. Today, the vineyard, covering around ten hectares, is run by SAS Denis Dubourdieu Domaines, under the leadership of Jean-Jacques and Fabrice Dubourdieu, who represent the fourth generation. The estate stands out for its exceptional family expertise and its ability to produce sweet wines of great finesse, perfectly reflecting the identity of their unique limestone terroir.
The vineyard
The exceptional terroir of this estate stretches across the famous Barsac plateau. The vines thrive on a thin layer of clay-sand soils, traditionally known as the “sables rouges du Barsacais”, which lie on a limestone subsoil. This particular geological profile limits the rooting of the vines to about fifty centimetres deep. The limestone bedrock acts as a natural water regulator by releasing the water stored during winter, protecting the vines from summer water stress and giving the white wines an incomparable finesse.
The vintage
The year was marked by particularly demanding climatic conditions, with early heat and limited rainfall. This warm, dry growing cycle required close attention before welcome rains arrived in late August and early September. These unusual weather conditions resulted in lower yields than usual, while encouraging a fine concentration in the berries.
Winemaking and aging
The crafting of Château Doisy-Daëne 2025 begins with meticulous manual harvesting, carried out in three to six successive passes in order to pick the berries that have reached the perfect stage of noble rot. After slow, gentle pressings, fermentation takes place in oak barrels, a quarter of which are renewed each year. The wine then enjoys careful aging for ten months in barrels, followed by nine months of refinement in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
Grape varieties
This wine is made from a blend of 88% Sémillon and 12% Sauvignon Blanc.
