Decanter

A very complete and poised wine with ripe black berries and a touch of dark chocolate. Perfect balance of fresh acidity and slightly gravelly tannins. The wine will benefit from a few years of ageing in the bottle.

Deeper in colour than the others in the range, reflecting the higher Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. Glass staining vivid plum, dark capsicum and red pepper spice, sage and rosemary, this is enjoyable with plenty of character, needs time to soften but great potential here. Harvest from September 1 to 19. Now out of Cru Bourgeois system. Tasted twice. 35hl/h yield.

What remarkable density in the bouquet of Fonréaud! Notes of blackcurrant and black pepper highlight the presence of Cabernet Sauvignon, along with hints of eucalyptus. I would also point out a discreet oakiness that accompanies and supports the aromatic expression. Carried by powerful, perfectly integrated tannins, the wine also shows a refreshing structure that brings a juicy touch—an encouraging sign given the tight, focused finish. A promising wine that needs time to fully open up.

The aromatic bouquet is precise and fruity (black fruits).

Palate
The attack offers lovely freshness. The palate combines silky tannins with a supple, airy structure, extending into an elegant and persistent finish.

This cuvée will pair wonderfully with roasted or grilled red meats, as well as dishes in sauce and game. Thanks to its subtly spiced notes, it will also be an ideal accompaniment to marinated meats or aged cheeses.

The sun-drenched elegance of a Listrac wine

The estate
Built in 1855 by Henri Le Blanc de Mauvesin, Château Fonréaud shines at the heart of the Bordeaux region. Acquired in 1962 by Léo Chanfreau, the estate is now led by Jean and Marie-Hélène Chanfreau, alongside Caroline Chanfreau-Philippon. The property stands out for its historic location on the highest point of the Médoc peninsula. Committed to a strong environmental approach, the family passionately perpetuates the identity of this exceptional terroir, straddling two prestigious appellations.

The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Fonréaud extends over the gravelly and clay soils characteristic of Listrac. Its geographical location between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gironde estuary provides the estate with a particular microclimate that influences the character of the wines.

Winemaking and aging
Aging is carried out in barrels, 25% of which are new. Alcohol content: 13% vol.

Grape varieties
The blend consists of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot.
