The discreet elegance of a great Pomerol merlot

The estate
Although the winemaking family has been present on these lands since 1772, the official creation of Château La Fleur de Gay as an independent cru dates back to 1982, under the impetus of Noël Raynaud. Today, this 2.44-hectare micro-vineyard is managed by Chantal Raynaud-Lebreton. This exceptional cru has established itself as a key property in Bordeaux, globally recognized for its unique parcel-based approach that enhances the identity of its terroir.

The vineyard
Covering a very limited area of 2.44 hectares, the vineyard is located on the high terrace of the Pomerol appellation. It is divided into three distinct plots benefiting from tailored care: "La Fleur" on pure blue clay, "Gay" composed of Günz-era gravels on clay, and "Groupey" combining coarse gravels with a blue clay subsoil. Yields are strictly limited to promote grape concentration, and harvesting is carried out entirely by hand.

The vintage
The conditions of this year particularly highlighted the influence of blue clay in the final composition. The specific sectors of La Fleur and Groupey were especially favored by the year’s weather conditions, leading to optimal manual harvests that took place on September 4 and 5, 2025.

Winemaking and aging
After macerations generally lasting 34 to 35 days and malolactic fermentation partly carried out in oak, Château La Fleur de Gay 2025 benefits from meticulous vinification. Aging takes place in French oak barrels, with 40% new barrels and 60% once-used barrels, enhancing its complexity while preserving its refinement.

Grape variety
This Château La Fleur de Gay 2025 is made exclusively from merlot.
