Château La Tour Figeac 2022

Even in this vintage, cheerful notes of fresh berries dominate; on the palate, certainly very fleshy, yet with very round tannins and perfectly balanced alcohol. Delightful once again.

Ripe and concentrated aromas, sun-kissed blackcurrants, violets, vanilla and cinnamon. Massy and a touch dry on the palate, the tannins feel a little oppressive at this point, filling the mouth with a powdery texture while the ripe, chewy strawberry flavours and cool minty aspects take the back seat. This has broad shoulders and plenty of heft — big construction with a lot of power and punch. A little old school in profile after ageing with toasted touches of clove and tobacco on the finish but once this settles this will be enjoyable. Organic.

A juicy and expressive red with plum and berry character as well as hints of crushed stones and grilled citrus. Medium- to full-bodied, it has juicy fruit and a flavorful finish. 65% merlot and 35% cabernet franc. 10% whole-bunch fermentation. Very attractive now but even better in two or three years.

60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample. Ripe and expressive on the nose. A touch of sweetness on the mid-palate but it builds and finishes firm and dry. Quite a bit of extract. Could do with a bit more freshness. (JL)

Silky, fresh, supple, and creamy, the vibrancy in the fruits pairs perfectly with the sensuously textured, chocolate-tinged fruit on the mid-palate and the long, medium-bodied finish. Drink from 2025–2045.

Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate rim brightening. Fresh cherries, plums, some nougat and orange zest, inviting bouquet. Juicy, ripe plums, discreet acidity, fine fruit sweetness, already developed, a charming food companion.

Never the biggest or richest wine in a vintage, the 2022 Château La Tour Figeac is nevertheless beautifully balanced and elegant, with a pretty perfume of spicy red and black fruits, savory flowers, camphor, and spicy wood. Medium-bodied on the palate, with a supple, elegant mouthfeel, it should drink nicely over the coming 15 years or so.

Delicate red-berry bouquet, dried culinary herbs, light graphite and wild strawberries. On the finely trained palate with a silky texture, balanced verve and a tightly knit tannic framework. In the focused, finely aromatic finish: cranberry, tarragon and dark minerality. On the same level as 2019 and 2018!

A sharp note of lemongrass among raspberry and red cherry fruits; this has lift and character, good quality. 40% new oak for ageing, 30 hl/ha yields, 13.5 ha vineyard.

A very inviting, open nose with aromas of black plum and a hint of pepper. This peppery character lingers on the palate, bringing lovely originality. Not very Bordeaux-like, but interesting and with impressive length.

A great deal of finesse, subtlety and complexity in the bouquet of Tour Figeac. It reveals nuances of red berries, peonies and eucalyptus, along with a touch of roasting. The finesse promised by the bouquet carries through on the palate. The wine is elegant, supported by silky, perfectly integrated tannins. Pleasant fruity nuances emerge on the finish of this wine, which is already quite approachable.

Dark, intense colour. Superb nose, the finest ever encountered here. Very aromatic, subtle, fruity and truffle-scented. The palate is a delight, airy and velvety in texture. A long, melting wine with a noble, refined floral note lingering on the finish. Don’t hesitate to taste it right away.

A rich wine, packed with tannins and with layers of black fruits, this is dense and concentrated. It has a fine presence with its black pepper aroma and its great richness. The wine's potential is considerable. Drink from 2028. Organic.
