Château Liot 2001

This plump, fleshy Sauternes reveals copious amounts of botrytis along with honeyed pineapple and floral characteristics. Enjoy this fruit-driven 2001 during its first 7–8 years of life.

Clean, elegant and racy, with lots of honey, spice and blanched almond character. Very long. Full-bodied and medium sweet, with a fruity finish. This needs some time to show what it really has. Best wine I have ever had from here. Best after 2006.

The 2001 Liot has a high-toned but rather monochrome nose offering light floral scents with little in the way of terroir expression. The palate is viscous on entry, very sweet, and missing some acidity. The finish is holding up well after 20 years but lacks tension. Easy-drinking fare.

The most yellow. Simple. Discreet. Much more fresh fruit than candied. A structure that is both sweet and fluid.
