An elegant, structured Pomerol from Bordeaux’s Right Bank
The estate
Acquired in 1997 by the Delon family, Château Nénin covers 32 hectares in Pomerol, north of Bordeaux. The 8 hectares of the plateau’s finest clay-gravel terroirs are devoted to the grand vin, with the remainder notably going into Fugue de Nénin. Under the leadership of Jean-Hubert Delon, the estate benefited from a complete restructuring from the time of acquisition, modernizing both the vineyard and the cellars. The grape variety mix, dominated by Merlot with an increasing share of Cabernet Franc, aims to produce an age-worthy Pomerol that is powerful and elegant.
The vineyard
The Château Nénin vineyard lies on the Pomerol plateau, benefiting from a clay-gravel and siliceous terroir. The soils are made up of gravel, quartz, granite and ferrous deposits that give the wines their characteristic richness and depth. This geological diversity allows for the expression of wines combining mineral complexity and fruity elegance.
The vintage
The 2007 vintage represents a classic year in Bordeaux, producing elegant, supple wines. The climatic conditions made it possible to obtain grapes at optimal ripeness, giving rise to wines with red-fruit aromas accompanied by notes of undergrowth and spice.
Winemaking and aging
Vinification of Château Nénin 2007 took place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks for 12 to 20 days. The wine then underwent 18 months of aging in oak barrels, allowing its aromatic complexity to develop and its tannins to integrate harmoniously.
Grape varieties
Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
