Château Potensac 2021

Compact and dense, juicy and with good length; stylish, refreshing, very successful.

A strong effort, the 2021 Potensac offers up aromas of minty cassis, cigar wrapper and sweet soil tones, followed by a medium-bodied, supple and lively palate. It's a pure, charming, well-made rendition of this dependable bottling.

Polished and fresh, with brightness to the red and black cherry core, carried by sweet tobacco and a subtle sanguine hint. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2030.

Supple, lively and fruity, with chalky tannins and a push of blackcurrant and plum fruit. It's cooling on the palate, with good freshness and density while still showing refinement and a light touch. A lovely example from the Médoc with creamy tones coming in on the mid-palate. Focused and well worked. Great for easy, enjoyable drinking. Tasted twice. 3.54 pH. Ageing in 20% new barrels.

Aromas of cabernet sauvignon with blackcurrants and flowers, as well as hints of pencil lead, follow through to a medium body with a solid core on the mid-palate and polished tannins. Tight on the finish and showing potential. Drink after 2026.

The 2021 Potensac, which was bottled in June, lacks a bit of lift on the nose. Touches of mocha infuse the red fruit, but it needs a little more brightness. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly angular tannins on the entry. Sour cherry mixes with light, tarry notes and a rather severe finish. It feels a bit “hobbled” by the growing season.

Leafy spearmint and red fruits are the thrust of this bright, crisp, foursquare styled vintage. Quite classic in nature, this firm, chewy wine is perfect for lovers of classic styled Bordeaux. The wine was produced from blending 40% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc and 13% Petit Verdot, 13.1% ABV. Drink from 2025-2038. 89-91

Dark ruby with purple hues. Delicate red berry nuances, hints of cherries, redcurrants and candied orange zest. Medium-bodied, mineral, taut, vivid tannins, a little dry on the finish, salty aftertaste.

The 2021 Château Potensac is up-front and charming, with medium-bodied aromas and flavors of ripe red fruits, spice, and savory herbs in a balanced, elegant package. It shows a very classic 2021 fresher, lively style and will round into form with just a year or two of bottle age and evolve nicely over the following decade.

Lovely slate and rosebud character, with a peony floral edge alongside blue fruits that is super attractive. Balanced, with finesse, if subdued. 37 hl/ha yield after mildew. Harvest through to October 13th.

A blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot, the 2021 Potensac has a medium garnet-purple color. Scents of redcurrant preserves, raspberry leaves, and wild strawberry pop from the glass, followed by hints of dried herbs and lavender. The light to medium-bodied palate delivers lively red berry flavors with lightly chewy tannins, finishing with a real skip in its step.

Potensac is the archetype of an approachable wine that offers great immediate pleasure without compromising a few years of cellaring; with its juicy palate and beautiful fruit expression, the 2021 is already very open and flavorful.

A record percentage of cabernet franc (23%). A dense, serious bouquet of precious wood and blackcurrant leaf. A taut, well-defined structure that frames a clear, supple fruit core. The tannins are silky, chalky; the finish is mouthwatering and long.

This is the first time Potensac contains so much Cabernet Sauvignon, and this trend will continue in the future. The bouquet is praised for its freshness, while the palate loses none of its charm, offering both flesh and temperament. A characterful wine with good ageing potential. It deserves some time in the cellar!

The nose is fruity and offers a lovely, fairly fleshy fruit, good balance and finesse. It reveals notes of juicy/pulpy boysenberry, fleshy cherry and, more subtly, small fleshy red fruits, combined with fine hints of violet and licorice, with discreet touches of vanilla. The palate is fresh, mineral and balanced, offering a mineral backbone, freshness, a fine glycerol texture and an elongated feel. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fresh/fleshy cherry, fleshy raspberry and, more slightly, blackcurrant, combined with touches of tonka bean and toasted almond, with fine hints of fresh flowers, minerality and a subtle sappy note in the background. The tannins are precise and racy. A lovely, gourmand and suave persistence.

Beautiful dark, shiny colour. Nose of ripe, pure and intense fruit. Very fruity and tasty palate, with a caressing, delightful feel from mid-palate through to the finish. Medium length. Blend: 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot. Alcohol: 13.1% – pH: 3.54 – IPT: 72. Harvest from September 29 to October 6.

Structure from Cabernet Sauvignon and nutmeg aromas are paired with acidity and open blackberry flavors. The wine is generous with plenty of rich black-currant fruits. Drink from 2026.
