Description
An expressive and full-bodied wine from Moulis
The estate
Château Poujeaux, located in Moulis-en-Médoc, is a wine estate steeped in history, with roots dating back to the 16th century. Since 2008, it has been run by the Cuvelier family, with Matthieu Cuvelier at the helm. Its distinctive terroir, made up of gravel resting on a limestone bedrock, hosts a traditional grape mix combining Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The involvement of oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt since 2008 has helped further establish the reputation of this Bordeaux cru.
The vineyard
Set on the Grand Poujeaux rise, at the heart of the Moulis appellation, the vineyard spans 72 hectares of Günz gravel. This remarkable terroir gives the wines their structure and mineral signature. The vines have an average age of around 30 years.
Vinification and ageing
Aged for 12 months in barrels, 25% of which are new and 75% one or two wines old.
Blend
Château Poujeaux 2025 is a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot.
