Clos Haut-Peyraguey 2007

Tasted single blind against its peers. The Clos Haut Peyraguey has a very fragrant, floral bouquet with a “patisserie” element: touches of lemon meringue, apricot and walnut. The palate is very well-balanced, quite taut and spicy on the entry, not quite as “flowing” as other 2007 Sauternes but very zesty and tensile. This is an excellent Sauternes that will need time to harmonize, but all the constituent parts are here. Tasted January 2011.

Displays dried citrus peel and honey on the nose, turning to flowers. Medium-bodied, with lots of sweetness and a spicy aftertaste of honey and tropical fruit. There's plenty of botrytis. Best after 2012.

Medium to full-bodied with a fresh, honeyed, citrus peel, floral, orange, vanilla and apricot nose, the bright finish ends with sweet, fresh nectarine, white peach and spicy, honeyed orange marmalade.

On the palate, lively with a fresh play of acidity and sweetness, impressive length. A magnificent Sauternes and at the same time one of the best Clos Haut-Peyraguey in history.

Medium gold in color, the 2007 Haut-Peyraguey gives up scents of cedar, chamomile tea, and tree bark with notes of stewed apples and wild mushrooms. The palate has bags of mature fruit, with honey-coated nut flavors and a spicy kick to the harmonious finish.

A beautifully expressive, complete nose combining distinctive aromas of apricot, mango and citrus with fine, sensual, vanilla‑tinged oak. Dazzling finish, the hallmark of a truly great terroir.

Beautifully toasted, with aromas of citrus and exotic fruits (lychee, pineapple) mingled with apricot. Since last year, the wine has become more complex, so half a point more.(

The 2007 shows lovely richness with significant noble rot; it is still very young but has great potential.

Golden, crystalline yellow color. Fruity, slightly heavy nose. Very fruity, caressing palate that becomes perfumed on the finish, but without the airy, aromatic character found in other vintages. Yet 2007 is a very good year in Sauternes, hence my doubts.
