Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Delas's Saint-Esprit 2024
Tasting
This Saint-Esprit 2024 is concentrated, generous and aromatically expressive. It nonetheless retains a pursuit of balance, freshness and finesse, which is the signature of the house.
A concentrated and balanced red Côtes du Rhône from the Rhône Valley, crafted by Delas
The estate
Founded in 1835 in Tournon-sur-Rhône under the name Maison Junique, the house became Delas Frères in 1924, under the impetus of Henri and Florentin Delas. Now based in Tain-l'Hermitage, in the heart of the Rhône Valley, Delas belongs to the Louis Roederer group. Jacques Grange oversees its technical direction. As a négociant, Delas also owns its own vineyards in Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph.
The vineyard
This Saint-Esprit, from the Côtes du Rhône appellation, comes from terroirs located mainly on the right bank of the Rhône, notably around the Dentelles de Montmirail and in the Valréas area. The Grenache comes from two complementary terroirs: the Arc des Dentelles, with its rolled pebble soils that bring generosity and breadth, and the cooler, higher-altitude vineyards of Valréas, which bring tension and balance. The Mediterranean-type climate is shaped by the mistral, which keeps the vines healthy and enhances the freshness of the wines.
The vintage
The 2024 vintage was marked in spring by high disease pressure. Yields are particularly low.
Grape varieties
Syrah and Grenache.
