Nose
The bouquet is intense and of great finesse. It releases aromas of fresh red fruits, such as cherry and berries, heightened by spicy notes reminiscent of crushed black pepper.
Palate
The attack is direct and structured, opening onto a crisp, fruity core. The palate offers a velvety texture supported by bright acidity, revealing a fine aromatic complexity that extends into a long finish.
Food and wine pairing
This cuvée pairs perfectly with red meats such as prime rib or lamb. It also goes very well with more casual dishes like pizza or charcuterie and cheese platters.
Service and storage
To fully appreciate the Cuvée "L" 2024, it is recommended to open and let it breathe for about 30 minutes before serving, at a temperature between 16 and 18°C. This wine can be enjoyed now to savor its vibrant fruit, and will continue to develop favorably until around 2029.
The fruity, approachable expression of a Rhône terroir
The estate
Founded in 1936 by Camille Combier, Domaine Combier is located in Pont-de-l'Isère, at the heart of the Rhône Valley. A pioneer, the estate converted to organic farming as early as 1969 under the guidance of Maurice Combier. Today, the estate spans 60 hectares and is jointly run by Laurent Combier and his two sons, Julien and David. Recognized for its environmentally respectful approach and its use of massale selection, the family is committed to authentically expressing the terroirs of the Rhône through precise and elegant wines.
The vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from young vines under 25 years old, located mainly in the southern part of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation. They thrive on the Châssis plateau, characterized by clay-limestone soils covered with rolled pebbles that store heat during the day and release it at night. The vineyard is farmed according to strict organic principles, promoting biodiversity and relying exclusively on massale selection to preserve the genetic identity of the vines.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes for the Cuvée "L" 2024 are entirely hand-harvested and followed by rigorous sorting. After complete destemming, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled concrete vats, with twice-daily pump-overs for gentle extraction. Aging then lasts 8 to 10 months, with 70% carried out in ovoid concrete vats to preserve the freshness of the fruit, and 30% in barrels and demi-muids over eight years old.
