Domaine Combier : Cuvée L 2025
In-Stock
Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Cuvée L 2025 from Domaine Combier
Tasting
Colour
This red Crozes-Hermitage displays a deep red colour with violet hues, characteristic of a young, fully ripened Syrah.
Nose
The nose is generous, with notes of red and black fruit, accompanied by touches of violet and spicy nuances, delivering a fresh and particularly pure aromatic profile.
Palate
The palate is powerful, spicy and round, carried by supple tannins resulting from careful ageing. The wine stands out for its lovely concentration, freshness and immediate appeal, while maintaining a fine balance.
Food and Wine Pairings
This cuvée is ideally suited to red meats and game, such as rack of lamb or wild boar stew. It also pairs well with more bistro-style cooking, such as a daube or braised meat, as well as with full-flavoured cheeses.
Serving and Cellaring
We recommend decanting the Cuvée L 2025 about one hour before serving, in order to soften its tannins and fully reveal its fruity aromas. A serving temperature of around 16 to 18°C is recommended.
A Fruity and Approachable Crozes-Hermitage, Reflecting the Expertise of Domaine Combier
The Estate
The Domaine Combier is a family estate founded in 1936 by Camille Combier in the Rhône Valley, in the commune of Pont-de-l'Isère. A pioneer of organic farming since the late 1960s, the estate is now run by Laurent Combier, supported by his sons Julien and David. It extends over approximately 60 hectares, mainly in Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph, and has earned a reputation as an essential reference in the appellation thanks to its parcel-by-parcel approach and its steadfast environmental commitment.
The Vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from young Syrah vines, less than 15 years old, located in the southern part of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, around Pont-de-l'Isère. The parcels extend across the Chassis plateau, at an altitude of between 100 and 150 metres, on clay-limestone soils covered with rounded pebbles. The vineyard is farmed according to organic principles, in keeping with the estate's historic philosophy.
The Blend
This cuvée combines grapes from estate-owned vines with carefully selected purchases from various communes in the south of the appellation, in order to create a profile representative of the southern Crozes-Hermitage terroir, true to the style the estate has sought since the creation of this cuvée.
Winemaking and Ageing
The grapes for the Cuvée L 2025 are hand-harvested with selective sorting, then fully destemmed before fermentation in temperature-controlled concrete tanks, with pump-overs morning and evening. The ageing, lasting 8 to 10 months, takes place mainly in ovoid concrete tanks, complemented by time in barrels and demi-muids over 8 years old, thereby preserving the purity of the fruit while adding texture.
Grape Variety
100% Syrah.
