Description
Tasting notes for Faustine Vieilles Vignes rosé 2024 from Domaine Abbatucci
Tasting
Appearance
This rosé stands out with its delicate hue, reminiscent of freshly blossomed rose petals.
Nose
Its bouquet reveals an elegant aromatic palette, blending citrus (notably pink grapefruit), small red berries, delicate flowers, and a hint of spice.
Palate
The lively attack gives way to a smooth, velvety texture. The finish, with lovely persistence, expresses enticing aromas of peach and apricot, evoking white-fleshed fruits.
Food and wine pairings
Ideal as an aperitif, this rosé pairs particularly well with a selection of Corsican or artisanal cured meats, creating a combination full of character and authenticity.
Serving and cellaring
Best enjoyed chilled, between 46 and 50°F, after 1 to 2 hours of aeration to reveal its full complexity. Enjoy while young.
An elegant high-altitude rosé
The estate
The Domaine Comte Abbatucci is located at over 100 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Taravo Valley in Corse-du-Sud. It is one of the oldest vineyards on the island. Heir to a prestigious lineage—several of whose members have marked national history, from the French Revolution to the Second Empire—the estate pays tribute to its ancestors through cuvées of strong character. Committed to biodynamic practices since 2000, the estate strives to reveal the identity of native Corsican grape varieties while respecting a preserved natural environment.
The vineyard
Produced as a Vin de France, this Faustine Vieilles Vignes rosé comes from north- and northwest-facing plots planted on granitic soils. This exposure promotes the wine’s freshness and aromatic finesse.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes, hand-harvested in small trailers to preserve their integrity, are carefully sorted in the vineyard and then in the cellar. They are then directly pressed after destemming. A static settling of 24 to 48 hours precedes alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Aging continues in these same vessels to preserve the purity of the fruit.
Blend
100% sciaccarello, an emblematic grape variety of the island, renowned for its finesse and aromatic complexity.
