Domaine de La Vieille Julienne : Les Hauts-Lieux 2019

Showcasing precise aromas of cranberry, red cherry, raspberry, dried herbs, white pepper and tobacco, the 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Hauts-Lieux is full-bodied, concentrated, and tightly structured with ripe tannins framing a muscular profile. The persistent finish confirms a wine of outstanding quality with the ability to evolve for up to 20 years.

With a nose like walking into a flower shop that sells fresh cherries, the wine is already just great. Rich, elegant, fresh, supple and pure, layers of sweet, peppery red cherries, garrigue, spice and salty crushed rocks start off strong and keep right on going. The wine was produced from a blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 10% Cinsault and 10% Counouise. Drink from 2024 - 2039.

Dark ruby, purple reflections, faint ochre brightening on the rim. Delicate fresh figs, black cherries, fine spicy nuances, candied orange zest, blackberries in the background. Powerful, juicy, good complexity, a fine touch of prunes, taut, well-integrated tannins, chocolaty and long, with definite ageing potential; still needs time. Drink from 2025.
