Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for Javernières 2025 from Domaine Louis Claude Desvignes
Tasting
Colour
This cuvée typically displays an intense ruby-red hue, which can deepen to dark garnet.
Nose
The typical bouquet of this wine blends aromas of black fruits, such as blackberry and plum, with hints of red fruit. Floral nuances of violet often mingle with subtle notes of spice and forest floor.
Palate
True to its terroir, this wine usually offers a dense, velvety texture. Its exceptionally fine tannic structure supports a lovely balance between the indulgent richness of black fruit, a mouthwatering minerality and a pleasant freshness.
Food and wine pairings
This wine pairs wonderfully with delicately spiced dishes such as couscous or samosas, as well as with roast poultry or white meats. It also goes very well with blue cheeses like Fourme d'Ambert and pressed cheeses such as Cheddar.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this 2025 vintage, serve it at a temperature between 14 and 16°C, taking care to open it thirty minutes to an hour before tasting. This wine has excellent potential and can be cellared for around ten years, or even longer.
The authentic expression of a great Beaujolais terroir
The estate
The Desvignes family's winemaking history in France dates back to 1712. Located in the heart of Beaujolais, this historic estate is now run by the eighth generation, Claude-Emmanuelle and Louis-Benoît Desvignes. With its organically farmed vineyard, Domaine Louis Claude Desvignes stands out for its commitment to producing authentic, profound wines. Acclaimed by international critics, it has become an essential reference for wine lovers seeking the pure expression of local terroirs.
The vineyard
The cuvée comes from the Javernières climat, a terroir of around two hectares located in the commune of Villié-Morgon, at the foot of the famous Côte du Py hill. Facing east and south-east, the 35- to 40-year-old vines thrive on deep clay soils rich in iron oxide, overlying metamorphic rock. The vineyard in the Morgon appellation is farmed entirely without herbicides, with regular ploughing to preserve biodiversity and microbial life.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand to preserve the integrity of the bunches and allow for rigorous sorting. Traditional vinification is carried out with a proportion of whole bunches, followed by a moderate maceration. The wine is then aged for around nine to ten months exclusively in concrete vats, a technical choice that preserves the brightness of the fruit and the identity of the terroir without any oak influence.
