Tasting
Appearance
The color shows a deep, intense red hue.
Nose
The nose reveals great aromatic complexity, with notes of undergrowth, Mediterranean garrigue and eucalyptus. Aromas of stewed black fruits mingle with spicy touches of licorice and thyme.
Palate
On the palate, this wine charms with its power and remarkably silky tannic structure. The balance between concentration and freshness is perfect, with a persistent tension that preserves fine vibrancy. Ripe tannins bring depth and complexity, while the finish is elegant, flavorful and exceptionally long.
Food and wine pairings
This wine is an ideal match for grilled red meats, game in sauce, or a herb lamb stew. It also pairs beautifully with full-flavored aged cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
The Marlène N.3 2015 can be enjoyed now but will continue to evolve until around 2036. Decanting is recommended to fully reveal its aromatic complexity.
A powerful, complex Vin de France, the signature of Marlène Soria
The estate
Founded in 1980, the Domaine Peyre Rose is located in Saint-Pargoire in the Languedoc. Marlène Soria, owner and winemaker, transformed this abandoned garrigue property into one of the most sought-after estates in France. The vineyard spans 25 hectares farmed under certified organic agriculture. Internationally recognized since the 1990s, the estate stands out for its philosophy of exceptionally long aging. Marlène Soria now runs the domaine with her son, perpetuating a winegrowing approach rooted in patience and excellence.
The vineyard
This Vin de France comes from a specific plot planted in the early 2000s, located on the heights of Saint-Pargoire at around 220 meters above sea level. The clay-limestone soils, made up of friable rocks and pebbles, rest on a subsoil of Mediterranean garrigue. The vineyard is managed organically, with yields deliberately limited to 15-20 hectoliters per hectare. Harvesting is carried out by hand, with rigorous grape selection.
The vintage
The 2015 vintage in the Languedoc proved exceptional thanks to favorable weather conditions. A frost-free spring, a hot summer moderated by Mediterranean winds, and complete phenolic ripeness made it possible to produce grapes of remarkable health and optimal concentration.
Winemaking and aging
The Marlène N.3 2015 undergoes parcel-by-parcel vinification with extended maceration in vats. After complete malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for several years in vats and large oak casks, in keeping with the domaine’s hallmark philosophy of very long aging. No fining or filtration is carried out, in order to preserve maximum density and complexity.
