A red Côtes du Rhône from Domaine Stéphane Ogier, between Visan and Châteauneuf-du-Pape
The Estate
Domaine Stéphane Ogier was born in 1983, when Michel Ogier released for the first time a vintage bottled at the estate, in Ampuis, in the heart of Côte-Rôtie, in the Rhône Valley. Joined by his son Stéphane in 1997, who now heads the estate, the domaine now extends over some forty hectares spread across the northern and southern Rhône. Drawing on a family heritage going back seven generations on the slopes of Ampuis, the estate has established itself as a contemporary benchmark thanks to the precision of its parcel-by-parcel work.
The Vineyard
The grapes for Le Temps est Venu rouge come from the areas of Visan, Plan de Dieu and Violès, in the southern Rhône, between the Gigondas and Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellations. This Côtes du Rhône comes from vines aged 30 to 50 years, planted at a density of around 7,000 vines per hectare for a yield of approximately 40 hl/ha. The soils, made up of limestone gravel resting on blue clays, benefit from a Mediterranean climate tempered by the Mistral, which preserves the freshness of the grapes while promoting full ripeness.
Vinification and Ageing
Le Temps est Venu 2025 is made from hand-harvested grapes, sorted in the vineyard and then on a sorting table at the entrance to the winery. Each parcel is vinified separately, using whole bunches, with fermentation carried out by indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled concrete tanks. The wine is then aged for around ten months exclusively in concrete tanks, with no time in barrels, in order to preserve the brightness of the fruit and the natural freshness of the wine.
Grape Varieties
This cuvée blends approximately 60% Grenache, 35% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre, a blend typical of the southern Rhône, guided by the precision of the estate's northern Rhône expertise.
