Description
The expression of an elegant, mineral Alsatian Riesling through six contemporary vintages
The estate
Founded in 1959 following the union of two winegrowing families, Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is a true benchmark in Alsace. Located in Turckheim, the vineyard now spans 40 hectares across exceptional terroirs. Today, Olivier Humbrecht, the first Frenchman to become a Master of Wine, is the owner and managing director of this prestigious estate. A pioneer deeply respectful of its environment, the estate stands out for its certified organic and biodynamic viticulture, always striving to express the authenticity of its soils.
The vineyard
This wine comes from the Heimbourg terroir, located in Turckheim in Alsace. The vines, planted in 1994, thrive on a steep slope with excellent south-west exposure. The shallow, fairly stony soil is composed of Oligocene limestone marls. This marl-limestone soil, particularly rich in iron, gives the wine its unique character. Yields are strictly limited to 21 hl/ha.
The case
This “Heimbourg” Riesling Case is a refined invitation to discover 6 major vintages from the contemporary history of this great Alsatian white wine:
2022
Pale golden yellow color, with an expressive nose after aeration or decanting, revealing intense citrus and a clear limestone signature with stony notes and white fruit. On the palate, the wine is lively, ripe, and precise, supported by bright acidity and a dry finish.
2021
Beautiful bright yellow color. The nose displays fine limestone minerality, lifted by notes of citrus and bergamot, with a hint of spice. The palate is taut, driven by lively, refreshing acidity, with a fine and elegant finish.
2020
The color reveals a pale straw yellow hue. The nose is marked by the limestone of Heimbourg, combining citrus and complex minerality with austere, smoky nuances. On the palate, the wine charms with its delicacy and precision, supported by ripe, assertive acidity.
2018
Intense, vibrant yellow color, with a very appealing nose combining limestone minerality and floral notes, followed by more classic citrus aromas with aeration. On the palate, the attack is elegant before a tighter structure takes over, leading to a long, precise, and taut finish.
2016
Bright yellow color, with a sunny nose that immediately evokes ripeness and intense fruitiness. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and energetic, before a finish enhanced by limestone salinity, suggesting excellent aging potential.
2015
Bright yellow color, with a mineral nose focused on citrus, still marked by lees aging and requiring time to खुल up. On the palate, it is elegant and delicate, far from an overly powerful style. The limestone brings fine bitterness and real tension, with a long, dry, very classic finish, built for aging.
Grape variety
