The estate
Founded in 1920 in Corpeau, in Burgundy, the Jean-Charles Fagot estate is now run by Jean-Charles Fagot, who is also the owner of the Auberge du Vieux Vigneron. The estate covers approximately 3 to 4 hectares, supplemented by purchased grapes. Vineyard management is based on lutte raisonnée (sustainable, reasoned viticulture), with hand-harvesting and traditional vinification in wooden foudres, reflecting a strong artisanal heritage in the Côte de Beaune.
The vineyard
The Saint-Romain that makes up this cuvée comes from a vineyard located in the Côte de Beaune, on marl-limestone soils. Its high-altitude setting gives the vines a pronounced saline tension as well as an aromatic finesse characteristic of this part of the appellation.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes for the Saint-Romain Village 2025 are hand-harvested, then vinified using a traditional method in wooden foudres, in keeping with the estate's philosophy based on lutte raisonnée.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
