Characteristics and tasting notes of the Meursault Village "En Luraule" 2022 Joseph Drouhin
Tasting
Colour
This French white wine displays a beautiful golden hue, enhanced by delicate green highlights.
Nose
The aromatic palette proves rich and complex, revealing scents of toasted hazelnut, almond, butter and toasted bread, all subtly nuanced by touches of hawthorn and chamomile.
Palate
Beautifully balanced, the palate offers a rich, velvety texture. It unfolds with lovely richness supported by well-integrated acidity, extending with finesse towards a remarkably persistent finish.
Food and wine pairing
This wine pairs perfectly with seafood and shellfish, such as pan-seared scallops or lobster salad. It also beautifully complements fine fish, delicate white meats such as sweetbreads with morels, as well as mature cow's milk cheeses like Comté, Beaufort or Reblochon.
Service and storage
To fully appreciate this Meursault Village "En Luraule" 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 13°C. While it already offers great pleasure in its youth, it has excellent aging potential and can be enjoyed until around 2037.
The finesse and elegance of a Meursault white wine by Joseph Drouhin
The estate
Founded in 1880 in Beaune, Maison Joseph Drouhin has established itself as a true institution in Burgundy. This historic estate now oversees a vast vineyard of 100 hectares spread across the finest terroirs of the region, from Chablis to the Mâconnais. Currently led by the fourth generation, with Frédéric Drouhin presiding over the executive board, the estate stands out for its early and profound commitment to the environment. Having cultivated its vines organically and biodynamically since the late 1980s, the house is dedicated to producing wines that combine harmony, elegance and respect for the terroir.
The vineyard
The "En Luraule" climat benefits from a privileged location within the Meursault appellation, on the renowned Côte des Blancs, directly bordering the famous "Gouttes d'Or" Premier Cru. The vines flourish on a deep, richly coloured chalky clay-limestone terroir, planted at a high density of up to 12,500 vines per hectare. This distinctive geology gives the grapes a characteristic mineral tension.
The vintage
The year's climatic conditions allowed for an optimal accumulation of flavours in the berries without causing excessive alcohol levels, resulting in beautifully mature fruit at harvest.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes for the Meursault Village "En Luraule" 2022 are harvested by hand into small perforated crates. In the cellar, the whole bunches undergo slow, gentle pressing in a pneumatic press. After light settling, the musts are transferred directly into barrels. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in French oak barrels, of which around 20% are new. The wine is then aged for a period of 14 to 16 months, with regular tastings to guide its development.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
