L'Esprit de Chevalier 2022

The 2022 L'Esprit de Chevalier Blanc reveals a pure, delicate bouquet of pear, peach, flowers, anise and spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and satiny, it’s ample and concentrated, framed by delicate dry extracts and bright acids that segue into a long, fresh and delicate finish. This is a real success.

Jasmine, green almond and thyme notes lead the way, backed by a solid core of white peach and quinine. Everything carries nicely through the finish. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Drink now through 2028. 1,200 cases made.

The 2022 L’Esprit de Chevalier Blanc is a terrific second wine from Domaine de Chevalier. Soft contours wrap around a core of apricot, mint, white flowers, sage and citrus peel.

Yellow citrus, honeysuckle, grapefruit and lemon rind aromas pop in the perfume. Fresh, vibrant, and fruity, this is already delicious in your glass. The wine blends 70% Sauvignon Blanc, and 30% Semillon. Drink from 2025-2032.

The 2022 L'Esprit De Chevalier Blanc is a beautifully elegant white offering juicy citrus and minty floral notes in a focused, fresh profile. Medium to full-bodied, it’s clean, balanced, and vibrant, with terrific purity and precision. It’s the second wine of the domaine yet tastes like a Grand Vin. Drink bottles over the coming decade.

Pale gold, attractively fresh and understated in colour, but the citrus opening sits alongside notes of straw and honeysuckle that suggest it was impacted by the vintage. I would look to the other whites in the exceptional Chevalier range – perhaps Lespault Martillac or Domaine de la Solitude.

Shimmering and vibrant on the nose, it shows striking purity on the palate, as pure as freshly fallen snow. It unfolds generously with fruity flavors, featuring notes of peach and pear.

Notes of fennel, rhubarb and white flowers. Fresh and mouthwatering, the wine benefits from a refreshing, invigorating tension. A flavorful wine that can already be enjoyed in its youth.

The nose is fresh, tangy and airy. It displays notes of lime, lemon, green apple, tart stone fruits (apricot, white peach), a very slight touch of fresh hazelnut, toasted hazelnut, white flowers (acacia, apricot blossom and apple blossom in the background), a hint of juicy pineapple, honey, butter and lemon yogurt in the background. The palate is straight, chiselled and fresh, with notes of lime and lemon on the attack, then complemented by a pleasant bitterness of grapefruit and almond in the background, a hint of fresh hazelnut, a delicate touch of toasted hazelnut, citrus zest and stone fruits, acacia and apple blossom. Lovely mouthwatering acidity and good bitterness. A precise, straight, fresh wine.

Pale yellow colour. Intense, delicate, fruity and subtle nose. Rich on the attack, silky mid-palate, very aromatic, the wine unfolds fully, finishing long, sappy and noble. It’s very good. Blend: 65% sauvignon blanc, 35% sémillon. Alcohol: 14°.
