La Chablisienne : Chablis 1er cru "Mont de Milieu" 2015

The 2015 Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu spent 15 months in stainless steel and oak barrels. It has a muffled, resinous bouquet that needs to display more minerality and terroir expression. The palate is balanced but lacks tension, and it feels too simplistic on the finish. It is not bad, just a bit…ordinary. I much prefer the Côte de Léchet this vintage. Incidentally, both were tasted blind.

More fruit density and purity than the nearby Montée de Tonnerre; the hillside was spared by the hail corridor, yielding very ripe grapes, balance, and precision.

A lemony, mineral-driven cuvée with striking freshness and remarkable balance.
