The 2013 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre has a very reserved, slightly muted bouquet compared to its peers, despite rigorous coaxing. The palate is balanced, quite phenolic in the mouth with pear skin and nectarine toward the finish. What it lacks is requisite tension and nervosity.

Floral finesse and iodized flavors in this beautiful, rich, caressing wine with luminous, flavorful breadth and a peppery finish. The balance is highly satisfying in this challenging vintage.

All length and elegance, this Premier Cru Chablis is expressive. Notes of ripe peach accompany the striking minerality. The palate is lively and concentrated. It will gain further complexity over the coming years.
