New ‘sélection parcellaire’ for Chapoutier from a high altitude (450 m) 3-ha granitic site of which they select 1 ha. It’s planted with a massal selection of Syrah from Bessards on the hill of Hermitage that was planted in 2000 and 2010. Deep glowing crimson. Pure, rich Syrah with lots of black pepper. Attractive polish and transparency. Very fresh fruit and real bite on the (dry) finish. (JR)
