Description
Tasting characteristics and recommendations for the Riesling "Clos Sainte Hune" 2020 by Maison Trimbach
Tasting
Appearance
The wine reveals a brilliant white colour.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet displays great elegance, blending notes of ripe fruit with a raw, pronounced minerality. Over time, it evolves towards complex aromas of honey and petrichor.
Palate
Remarkably long, the palate offers a dynamic tension between the ripeness of the fruit and a lively natural acidity. This dry wine stands out for its solid structure, perfect balance and refined character.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs beautifully with delicate seafood such as oysters or mussels, simply prepared fish, as well as white poultry with mild spices. It also enhances local cuisine, particularly choucroute garnie or tarte flambée, and is a perfect match for fragrant Asian dishes or medium-character cheeses such as Munster.
Serving and cellaring
For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve this wine in large glasses, at a temperature between 9 and 11°C, after a gentle aeration of 30 to 45 minutes. Built for a very long evolution, this wine requires at least a decade of patience and can be enjoyed until around 2040.
The mineral and refined expression of a great Alsace wine by Maison Trimbach
The estate
For more than 12 generations, Maison Trimbach has been an emblematic reference among the greatest wines of Alsace. The balance between fruit, acidity and minerality is the guiding principle of the vinifications of all the cuvées of this family estate, renowned for its wines with a singular style that win over the finest international gourmets with their outstanding quality.
Located in the magnificent village of Ribeauvillé, in the heart of the Alsace Wine Route, the estate benefits from an exceptional terroir, both through its soils composed of sandstone, limestone, marl and clay, and through its oceanic influences due to the proximity of the Vosges mountain range. Maison Trimbach oversees a 50-hectare vineyard spread across more than 50 plots and 9 villages.
The vineyard
The vineyard from which this "Clos Sainte Hune" is produced stretches over an exclusive 1.67-hectare plot within the Grand Cru Rosacker, in Hunawihr in Alsace. South-south-east facing on a mid-slope position, the vines, planted at a density of 5,500 vines per hectare, thrive on a very stony clay-limestone terroir known as Muschelkalk.
