Characteristics and tasting tips for Orma 2024
Tasting
Colour
This wine displays a deep, brilliant ruby colour with violet highlights in its youth, which evolve towards noble garnet hues over the years.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet is rich and highly intense, dominated by notes of black fruit such as blackberry, blackcurrant and blueberry. It is enhanced by subtle touches of sweet spices, blond tobacco and a hint of cedar, testament to perfectly integrated ageing.
Palate
Ample and velvety, the palate offers a dense texture supported by exceptionally fine tannins. The balance is remarkable, combining lovely fruity richness with a refreshing saline touch, before extending into a long, persistent and delicately spiced finish.
Food and wine pairings
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with flavourful red meats, slow-cooked dishes in sauce and roast poultry. It will also beautifully complement semi-hard cheeses and dishes with Mediterranean flavours.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate Orma 2024, serve it at around 18°C, ideally after aerating it beforehand. Endowed with a solid structure, this wine has excellent ageing potential, allowing it to evolve gracefully over the years.
The elegance of a great Italian red wine by Orma
The estate
Founded in 2004 by Antonio Moretti Cuseri, the Orma estate quickly established itself as a benchmark on the Tuscan coast. Located in the heart of the prestigious Bolgheri region, this confidential property encompasses 5.5 to 7.5 hectares of vineyards, nestled among illustrious neighbours. Driven by the desire to leave a unique mark, the Moretti Cuseri family has raised this label to the very top, producing wines of great precision that reflect all the excellence and richness of this exceptional terroir.
The vineyard
Ideally situated north of the famous wine road, this Toscana terroir enjoys an exceptional microclimate influenced by the Tyrrhenian Sea. The vines grow at low altitude on soils of marine origin, composed of clay, gravel and a little sand. This soil structure ensures optimal drainage while retaining an essential water reserve. Sea breezes and the contrast between day and night temperatures promote slow, perfect ripening of the berries, which are grown with respect for the environment.
Winemaking and ageing
The grapes destined for Orma 2024 undergo meticulous vinification. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at between 26 and 28°C, accompanied by skin maceration of around twenty-one days for optimal, controlled extraction. The wine is then carefully aged for twelve months in French oak barrels, partly new, before resting for a further year in bottle to perfect its harmony prior to release.
Grape varieties
