Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Eyxes Eratines Wishes 2025 by Pieria Eratini
Tasting
Appearance
This wine displays a pale yellow hue, clear and brilliant, enhanced by delicate light green highlights.
Nose
Remarkably intense, the aromatic bouquet opens with notes of yellow and green fruits such as lemon, grapefruit, white peach and pear. These are harmoniously complemented by a gentle herbaceous touch and a very subtle hint of oak.
Palate
Ample and generous in volume, the palate captivates with its enveloping texture, perfectly balanced by an intense freshness. The finish is long and complex, extending the fruity and herbaceous flavors over a delicate woody and mineral backbone.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine pairs wonderfully with Mediterranean cuisine, notably grilled fish with herbs, seafood or poultry in a light sauce. It is also an excellent match for more contemporary dishes such as ceviche, tuna tataki or asparagus risotto.
Serving and cellaring
To fully enjoy this vintage, we recommend serving it at a temperature between 10 and 12°C, after a brief decanting of 15 to 20 minutes. It can be cellared for a few years and will continue to evolve favorably until around 2032.
The elegance and freshness of a white wine from Macedonia by Pieria Eratini
The estate
Founded in 2006 by the oenologists Pavlos Argyropoulos and Andreas Pantos, who still run the estate today, Pieria Eratini is a distinctive property located in Greece. Nestled in the Pieria region in the north of the country, the estate lies within the Macedonia appellation. With more than twenty-five years of experience, the owners have created a modern vineyard. Renowned for its organic approach and its use of techniques inspired by the Byzantine era, the estate has established itself as a key player, skillfully showcasing the combination of indigenous and international grape varieties.
The vineyard
Located on the foothills of Mount Olympus, around the Saint Athanasius Monastery, the vineyard extends over approximately 60 hectares. This unique terroir of Macedonia benefits from a dual climatic influence, both mountain and maritime, thanks to its proximity to the Aegean Sea. The vines, grown at an altitude of 400 meters on gentle slopes, thrive in soils composed of sand, clay and calcium carbonate. The entire vineyard is managed under certified organic farming, which promotes controlled yields and entirely hand-harvested grapes.
Winemaking and aging
The making of this wine relies on practices that combine modernity and tradition. Fermentations are carried out at low temperature in small stainless steel tanks in order to preserve the aromatic purity of the berries. Part of the blend is then carefully aged in barrels with fine lees work, giving the wine a rich texture and a particularly subtle, well-balanced integration of oak.
Grape varieties
This wine is made from a blend of Assyrtiko, which makes up the majority of the cuvée, complemented by Chardonnay and Malagousia.
