Description
The authentic expression of a Pommard terroir
The estate
The story of Domaine Trapet began in 1859, when Louis Trapet acquired a first plot in Gevrey-Chambertin. Today run by Jean-Louis and Andrée Trapet, alongside their sons Pierre and Louis, this family estate embodies excellence in Burgundy. A pioneer of biodynamics since the 1990s, the domaine spans 18.5 hectares of vines in Burgundy and also has a branch in Alsace. The new generation, represented by Pierre and Louis, is bringing fresh momentum with the launch of their own cuvées, while preserving the heritage and deep respect for living things that define the estate.
The vineyard
Located in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune, the Pommard appellation is renowned for its red wines. The vineyard lies on predominantly clay soils, sometimes rich in iron oxide, with exposures that vary from plot to plot. This geological diversity allows the full complexity of the terroir to shine through. The vines are farmed with a respectful approach, in keeping with the family's overall philosophy, which favours meticulous observation of the plant and the preservation of biodiversity to reveal the authentic identity of the appellation.
Grape variety
This Pommard Village Pierre & Louis Trapet 2023 is made from 100% Pinot Noir.
