A concentrated and elegant Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from Silver Oak
The estate
Founded in 1972 by Ray Duncan and Justin Meyer, Silver Oak Cellars has established itself as a benchmark for Cabernet Sauvignon in California, particularly in Napa Valley and Alexander Valley. Now led by David Duncan and his brother Tim Duncan, this family estate stands out for a singular approach: the exclusive production of Cabernet Sauvignon aged in American oak barrels, a signature that has shaped its identity for more than fifty years.
The vineyard
The vines for this Cabernet Sauvignon are planted in the Alexander Valley, a renowned winegrowing region in California.
The vintage
The year 2020 in California was marked by early budbreak followed by warm temperatures and low rainfall. These climatic conditions resulted in moderate yields but produced grapes with particularly concentrated, expressive flavors.
Winemaking and aging
The Alexander Valley "Cabernet Sauvignon" 2020 benefits from exclusive aging in American oak barrels for approximately twenty-four months, followed by bottle aging. Silver Oak makes its own barrels in its sustainable cooperage in Missouri, lending the wine distinctive notes of vanilla, coconut and sweet spices.
Grape varieties
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec.
