Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Collection Harmonie Opéra - Longueteau

Tasting

Nose
Generous and round, the first impression reveals dominant aromas of candied fruits, dried apricot, candied citrus peel and fig, perfectly integrated with caramelized notes. On aeration, an ascending complexity emerges through woody spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg and a subtle hint of pepper. In depth, whiffs of tobacco leaf and leather intertwine with a vanilla sweetness and indulgent touches of candied walnuts and caramelized sugar.

Palate
The attack offers a remarkably silky, oily texture. It unfolds an elegant spicy palette blending black pepper, cinnamon and a subtle liveliness of ginger, all balanced by a caramelized sweetness and flavours of candied fruits. The mid-palate gives way to toasted oak notes along with walnut and hazelnut, supported by perfectly integrated tannins. The exceptionally long finish stretches into flavourful notes of flambéed banana, walnut and caramel butter.

Pairing Tips and Tasting Moments
This meditation spirit is best enjoyed neat, at room temperature or very slightly chilled, favouring slow sipping to let the aromatic profile evolve. Adding a few drops of demineralized water can release the most delicate fruity esters. It is the ideal companion for moments of personal reflection, formal tastings or memorable celebrations.

Mixology
Due to its exceptional complexity, limited-edition status and remarkable aromatic intensity, this outstanding rum is highly recommended to be enjoyed neat, without any additions, so as not to mask its subtle nuances.

Other Characteristics
Bottled at cask strength at 46.4% (for Batch 1) or 47.3% (for Batch 2), this spirit undergoes no cold filtration nor any addition of water after ageing in cask, thereby preserving the full range of its aromatic compounds and its viscous texture.

The Pinnacle of the Art of Blending at Distillerie Longueteau in Guadeloupe

Distillerie Longueteau: The Excellence of Rum from Guadeloupe since 1895

Founded in 1895 by Henri Louis Philippe Longueteau on the Domaine du Marquisat de Sainte-Marie in Capesterre-Belle-Eau, the Longueteau distillery is a historic institution. A pioneer in the production of agricultural rum made from pure cane juice, it stands out for its complete self-sufficiency: the estate exclusively grows and processes sugar cane from its twelve plots of volcanic terroir. Today, François Longueteau (father) is the current owner and leads the estate with a vision that blends tradition and innovation. Supported by his sons, François junior in charge of blending and Nicolas of distillation, he carries on a family expertise spanning more than 130 years. Independent, the Longueteau house embodies the excellence of Rum from Guadeloupe, favouring aromatic complexity and respect for terroir through rigorous production methods and absolute mastery from fermentation to bottling.

Collection Harmonie Opéra: An Exceptional Amber Rum and an Aromatic Symphony

The fourth and final release in the prestigious range envisioned by François Longueteau junior, the Collection Harmonie Opéra represents the artistic pinnacle of the distillery. Conceived like a musical work in which the cellar master acts as conductor, this amber rum is the result of a meticulous blend of distillates from red cane and blue cane.

The production method for this rum stands out for its exquisite precision. The base white rums first undergo a resting period of eight months in stainless steel tanks, allowing for slow reduction and controlled aeration. The spirit is then transferred into 300-litre French oak casks that previously held cognac. This extended ageing, lasting more than eight years, allows for a nuanced extraction of the wood's compounds and the development of remarkable complexity.

Released in a very limited edition (only 1,400 bottles for the first batch), this numbered cuvée is aimed at collectors and connoisseurs of prestige spirits. Presented in a distinctive bottle underscoring its status as the collection's crowning achievement, it embodies the quintessence of the house's expertise, offering a sensory experience of rare intensity.
